H.M.S. Tetrarch was one of sixty-two "R" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1916-17.

Service

Reduced to Reserve Complement at Devonport on 20 February, 1922.[8]

Paid off into Dockyard Control at Malta on 30 April, 1925.[9]

Commissioned at Gibraltar under the command of Desmond Adair Stride for service with the Atlantic Fleet.[10]

The destroyer was re-commissioned at Chatham on 4 September, 1928 for service with the Atlantic Fleet.[11]

She again re-commissioned at Chatham on 24 April, 1931 for continued service with the Atlantic Fleet.[12]

Tetrarch was reduced to Reserve at the Nore on 1 July, 1932.[13]

She trasnferred to Dockyard Control at Chatham on 1 December, 1933.[14]

In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5 or perhaps £1. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[15]

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

Lieutenant-Commander Kenneth Maximilian Wilkinson was to command her for the 1924 Reserve Fleet Exercises,[37] but he was mentally unwell.
