Edmund Purefoy Ellis Jervoise
Life & Career
Born in Herriard Park, Basingstoke, Jervoise was noted as being "very shortsighted." It seems possible that this is why he was never given a sea-going command.
Jervoise was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1884.
Jervoise was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.
Jervoise was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1904.
He retired at his own request on 27 April, 1906.
Jervoise was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 15 July, 1915.
Jervoise was reverted to the Retired List upon being superseded as Captain of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich on 1 July, 1919.
