Lieutenant-Commander Cyprian Dunscomb Charles Bridge, R.N. (15 August, 1885 – 1 August, 1939) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of John C. E. Bridge, Esq..[1]

He was awarded the Ryder Memorial Prize for proficiency in French the year 1905.[2]

Bridge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1905. He was faulted for a torpedo boat collision in July 1906 with T.B. 68 and was removed from command of T.B. 78.[3]

With no clear diagnosis being specified, Bridge was retired as unfit on 17 October 1910.[4]

Bridge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1913.[5]

Bridge was appointed as Assistant Wireless Telegraphy Censor at the Admiralty on 1 August, 1914, but on the nineteenth he was appointed in command of a Battalion of the Royal Naval Division. This lasted until 9 February 1915, when he was granted a temporary commission in the Royal Marine Artillery Brigade.

Bridge served in Malta in 1918 as 2nd Assistant Chief of Staff and later in intelligence duties before he was reverted to the Retired List on 30 June 1919.[6]

World War II

Bridge was suffering from tuberculosis in April, 1939 and deemed unfit. He would die on 1 August.[7]
