Jump to navigationJump to searchRear-Admiral Charles John Balfour (3 October, 1841 – 19 January, 1902) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Balfour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 10 December, 1861.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 4, October, 1875.[2]
Balfour was promoted to the rank of Captain on 11 July, 1882.[3]
On 18 February, 1890, he was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Mercury on the China Station.[4]
In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, he was placed on the Retired List dated 3 October, 1896.[5] He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on the Retired List on 16 September, 1897.[6]
