The personalities of the Dreadnought Era had a profound impact on the scale of the Great War and its particular nature.
The British Royal Navy was arguably the greatest catalyst for technological change at sea in the thirty years following the passage of the Naval Defence Act of 1889, and this in large part was driven by its officers. The Royal Navy was not alone, however, in being possessed of imaginative and forceful officers, and at some point we would like to expand more on such men.
