HELP (Auxilium)
Macrons - “Macrons” are those long marks over some of the vowels, such as the “i” in the word īnsula. Your answers will not be accepted unless you put macrons over the correct vowels. There are three ways to do this:
1. Try holding down the Control (Ctrl) key while pressing the letter. On some browsers, such as Internet Explorer for Windows, this will put a macron over the vowel. (This does not currently work on Firefox.)
2. Click the button at the bottom of the page that shows the long vowel you want. (This should always work.)
3. If your computer supports International Keyboard settings with a “U.S. Extended” keyboard, try changing your keyboard to U.S. Extended. Then, to type a macron, type the ALT key and the A key (Alt + A), followed by the vowel. This should work on Mac OSX, versions 10.4 and above.
Checking - After you have entered an answer, check to see if it is correct by clicking the “Check” button beneath the question. If the answer is correct, the next question will appear, and you may move on. If the answer is wrong, a dialogue box will appear, often with a hint.
Different browsers behave differently, but instead of using your mouse to click the “Check” button, you may also:
· Internet Explorer: type TAB, followed by RETURN/ENTER.
· Firefox: type RETURN/ENTER.
