I occasionally poke around a Russo-Japanese War internet forum. Norm Koger (Of Operational Art of Warfare fame) just posted a reply regarding his up coming game “Distant Guns” – a naval warfare game based upon the 1904-05 Russo-Japanese War. It’s in the final play test stages and will apparently be released soon.

I did not like the HPS game on Jutland – I tried a number of scenarios and always came away with the feeling that I was playing an advanced version of one of those old ATARI games like Asteroids or the like. I assume HPS’s Guadalcanal and Tsushima are similar systems. I hope there is more substance to “Distant Guns”. The graphics for “Distant Guns” are certainly impressive looking, but of course the graphics are just the icing on the cake.
