I have found the mother-load of plans for "Standard Navy Boats" in an old professional journal.

It contains hull lines, sail plans, and general arrangements for a 40ft steam cutter, 33 ft launch, 30 ft cutter, 30ft whale-boat, 30ft gig, 30ft barge, & 20ft dinghy. It is obtainable from the MIT library for only $15!

Go to https://libraries.mit.edu/docs/app/orders/journal, which is an order form. Put in your info and credit card info.

The citation is:
Journal Title: Transactions- The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers
Volume: 6
Issue: ?
Date: 1898
Article Title: Standard Navy Boats
Author: Cassidy, Arthur B.
Pages: 1-14 & Plates 1-38
Call Number: Permalink 000295063
Notes: Plates 1 through 38 are bound at the end of the volume and consist of detailed fold-out top and side-view drawings as well as photographs of small boats such as cutters, launches, cutters, barges, whale boats, gig whale boats, and dinghies.
NOTE: this was recently scanned for Services order #12536.

They will send you an e-mail when it is ready, with a web-link and a password, which lets you down load a PDF file.

Interesting.

This volume (and others) can be viewed online, and even downloaded one page at a time in .pdf format from Hathi Trust Digital Library (and downloaded for free I think if you are affiliated with one of the member institutions):

Same volume (from Princeton University library). The plans, alas, have not been copied fully.

Many many thanks to Jim for finding the digital library. And many thanks to myself as I remembered the UM login password. I can read the whole PDF then. Very very good stuff. :D
