I was curious as to what the many tubes off the gunnels are. I am building a plank on frame model of Dreadnought. I am now waterproofing the hull in prearation of motor installation. The pics and drawings in this site have been great. The ship will be about 52" when complete. I design and build scenery and props as a profession. perhaps I can help in some way. cool sit by the way.

This is actually the most frequently asked question I receive.

Those are spars for deploying the anti-torpedo netting -- they'd swing out and the net which is stowed on a shelf on the gunwale would be unfurled to hang down in the water.
