Perhaps of interest to board members. For a Christmas present to myself, I bought a copy of Norman Friedman's latest: British Cruisers of the Victorian Era. I have just started reading it, so I can't really give a full review. It has lots of photos and an assortment of ship plans (deck and side view). It actually starts with the 1830s, with dawn of the steam era, and goes to through the construction of the last armored cruisers.
I can say that Friedman's writing style hasn't improved, its still very convoluted and sometimes hard to follow. |
