For some reason I can't view the LC pics.
Could you share the URL where you found them?
Thanks,

Thanks for the URL
(Although on THIS computer I can see the pics you posted!)
The bow scroll from the USS Tennessee (ACR-10) still exists,
in Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. (No I haven't seen it)
Having survived outdoors so long, it must not be wood.
I just looked at a photo at history.navy.mil, and it looks like unpainted metal- My guess is bronze. and that it was gilded in 1907.
It looks very "carved," but I think that is due to how the sand casting was made from wooden "masters."
It doesn't look as "integral" to the bow as your Brooklyn pics, esp. as it came off as a unit in ~1911.
As to the varnished bridge- maybe it was replaced during a refit... or maybe swabbies just love to scrape paint!

Anyway,
I'm on my third prototype for main gun turret mechanisms and mountings.
My pile of scrap metal is growing :) Should have the basics of a useable unit by end of week. Biggest problem at the moment is figuring out how to make the guns "accelerate & decelerate" when they swing for a "realistic effect". |

Right, I'm sorry about the huge delay here, but I was at the other end of the state at Merlefest (big bluegrass and folk music festival in Wilkesboro, NC).
I will add more waterlines to drawings. _________________ John H. Dulaney |

Have you thought about electronic rather than percusive firing? _________________ John H. Dulaney |

I like the big photo showing the turret for its detail showing the little sighting loophole is made weather-tight by a little cord and an outer stopper. I find such details the most fascinating sort -- and they are hard to come by.
Sadly, there are so few shots that show interior spaces and fire control details of these sort of ships.
What do you think are the 3 small devices in the conning tower view slits? Similar devices for sealing out spray? In the RN, slightly later, these might have been bearing plates or torpedo directors.
