I really enjoy the models, guys. John, I'm not ignoring you exactly, but I am being slow. I have been working on a naval Wiki that I hope to open up to broader access and contribution. I might try to absorb the modeling stuff into it, as well.

Thanks a lot!)
Well, I suppose we could join the efforts - just have a glance on my site.
http://www.battleships.ru/frame/by_namemalkov.html
I have just managed to place there an information about 3 wars, about 200 shipbuilders, and about all yaers of naval construction from 1858 to 2005 |

Nikto ... the site looks rich but a lot of the links don't work for me.
For instance, clicking on the image on this page simply takes you back to the main page.
Do you see a different behavior?

You are quite right. I deployed only about 2500 warships out of the 63000 that I posess the information about. Those that are deployed presented in classes just at the right side of the control panel. Mostly capital ships. I am working now under the destroyers line.
And only 210 shipbuilders are deployed out of about 1600. Exeptionaly those that took part in the construction of deployed capital warships.
But the navigation panel is already the information by themself. For example http://www.battleships.ru/years/1894malkov.html
Here you may see all the warships appropriate to that particular year.
Or http://www.battleships.ru/countries/netherlands.html is about dutch shipbuilders
I am in the beginning of the work ) |

In fact I try to create a COMPLETE Internet Data Base.
I managed to create that DB in MS Access. But it is not an appropriate DB format because it does not allow to work with high resolution images and somehow to incorporate them.
In navigation panels A COMPLETE information is published . It is simple. Much more difficult is to make mini-sites dedicated to a concrete warship or shipsbuilder - that are the basic information. And what is much more difficult - to fill those mini-sites with photos, drawings etc. And another batch of deal - is a linking those mini-sites to an existing in Internet information as I also plan.
In fact it would be great if anybody of you took part in that work. It is absolutely not complicated - to create and feel mini-sites. It just needs time...
The project is not commercial right now. But I know a certain possibility to get a commercial use out of it and it would be a privellege to me to divide that success (if any) among participants... |
