These were separate organizations. Vernon's broader mission encompassed electricity, phone systems, hydrophones and radio in this era.

I wonder if anyone has direct contact with the French authorities who can determine are the files destroyed or if they are merely slow to restore a crashed site?

I know of nothing beyond some gunsights in various states of repair on weapons. I do know of a guy who found a Vickers Range Clock and a dumaresq in an Israeli museum (oddly).
